Irish poet W.B. Yeats called Sligo the “Land of Heart’s Desire,” and this gala event will explore his special (and conflicted) relationship with it in a stunning mix of storytelling, poetry, conversation, and music. Featuring Flutist Kevin Crawford of Lúnasa; Yeats scholar Dr. James Pethica, Williams College; Actor Neil Bradley portraying Yeats; Adam Farley, Irish America Magazine; Sligo-style fiddler Tony DeMarco; and Alisa Rose, vocalist-lyricist. This is a fundraiser to help launch CULTURAL ROADMAPP: Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, a series of hands-free audio tours about the culture and heritage of Ireland’s west coast for motorists on Ireland’s spectacular 1500-mile coastal driving route. Schedule: 1 pm: Hors d’oeuvres; 2 pm: Performance/Conversation; 3:30 pm Reception. Ticket prices: $25, $50, $100, $250. The Irish Arts Center has generously provided the venue but is not otherwise affiliated with CULTURAL ROADMAPP. Event ends at 4:30 pm.
