Irish Origins Series: Iarla Ó Lionáird & Contemporaneous perform Dan Trueman & Donnacha Dennehy

October 28, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

$29

Join us for a wealth of talent and music from Irish and American artists and composers.

Opening the evening Isabelle O’Connell, pianist, brings a beautiful program of renowned living Irish new music composers, whom have created one of the most exciting and diverse music scenes in the world today. The floor will then be opened to invite conversation about the development of Irish American music with input from our guest composers, and co-curator Donnacha Dennehy.

Iarla Ó Lionáird, vocalist, and Contemporaneous, new music ensemble, partner for the first time to perform reimagined sean-nós songs by composer Dan Trueman, these arrangements, created from the oldest origins of Irish music, bring to the stage a living tradition in a modern light. Deeply set in the repertoire of Contemporaneous, Grá agus Bás, by composer Donnacha Dennehy, will be revisited by the group by joining voices with Iarla Ó Lionáird to perform this well established and stunning piece of contemporary chamber music.
