An event every week that begins at 7:30 pm on [day], repeating indefinitely

$35 – $60

The Gloaming, which will make a highly anticipated one-night-only appearance at Symphony Space on October 16, as part of Lincoln Center’s White Light Festival, is comprised of master fiddler Hayes, sean-nós vocalist Ó Lionáird, fiddler Ó Raghallaigh, and two virtuosic Americans: guitarist Dennis Cahill and pianist/producer extraordinaire Thomas “Doveman” Bartlett, who has worked with everyone from David Byrne and Joshua Bell to Sufjan Stevens and Glen Hansard of Once fame.

Formed in Ireland in 2011, The Gloaming plays music likened by Ó Lionáird to an image from Gaelic poet Seán Ó Ríordáin, as a farmer tosses a handful of seeds into the air to gauge the wind. The band’s singer says, “I want our music to convey the stillness before the seeds begin to fall.” The Irish Times has called the quintet’s live performances “revelatory” and “likely to cement them as one of the great forces in Irish music.”
