How it’s Irish: John is from Cavan.

Beach plans cancelled due to inclement weather this Memorial Day weekend? If you’re stuck in town, why not catch John Munnelly tonight at 11 p.m. at Maguire’s Bar, Woodside? All the info is here.

We loved John’s song on the compilation Christmas album produced by Anita Daly, Together for Christmas, and called his song “Happy Christmas” “grin-inducing.” Read the rest of the review here.

In a round-up of favorite Celtic Christmas CDS, I cited that album, and said of John’s track that it is

an infectious tune that also tells the story of Baby Jesus. Instant classic.

We also featured that song on a podcast in December; you can hear it here, if you need incentive to hop the subway tonight.

John will be playing with his LaughJohnLaugh band. His new CD is available for download for a special “pay what you want” price. In addition to his own music, John will play some 1960s classics.

Maguire‘s  is located in Woodside Queens near the 52nd and 61st St 7 train
54-20 Roosevelt Ave
