New York Trad Fest begins today!

How it’s New York: This new festival centers on players from the New York area. Players will be at Connolly’s Klub 45 from 7 on! DSCN5541
How it’s Irish: It’s Irish trad music!

The first annual New York Trad Fest begins today. The launch party for the event organized by fiddler Tony DeMarco was held last night at the Irish consulate, hosted by Consul General Noel Kilkenny and his wife Hanora. Spotted at the party were many regulars of the music-playing and cultural scene: Irish Echo’s Peter McDermott, Irish Voice’s Paul Keating, Ulysses’ Danny MacDonald, Dr. Mick Moloney, who is speaking at Glucksman Ireland House today, musicians Donie Carroll, Tony Horswill (who informs me, sadly, that the Cat n’ Fiddle session at St. James’ Gate in Maplewood is going to once a month– stay tuned for where we’ll be going on other days), Cillian Vallely, Dan Gurney, Dylan Foley, Don Meade, Marie Reilly, Siobhan Butler Dan Neely, Dana Lyn and many more.

Rundown after the jump!
