The Irish American Bar Association of New York (www.iabany.org) is holding its Fifth Annual Bloomsday Celebration on June 16, 2014, from 6:00 to 7:15 p.m. in the rotunda of the Supreme Court Building at 60 Centre Street. Inaugurated in 2009, IABANY’s Bloomsday celebration is a unique celebration of James Joyce’s masterwork, and his contribution to First Amendment jurisprudence in the United States. This year, the keynote speaker will be the Hon. Gerard E. Lynch, United States Court of Appeals Judge for the Second Circuit. His address, entitled “Copyright, Creativity and the First Amendment,” will be accompanied by a live presentation of a compendium of responses obtained by Morris Ernst in 1932 from librarians and booksellers throughout the United States, to assist in the defense of Ulysses in U.S.A. vs. One Book Called Ulysses. The event is free, but requires registration: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/iabany-fifth-annual-bloomsday-celebration-tickets-11532151977.
