February 27, 2014 @ 8:00 pm - 8:30 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 8:00 pm on Friday, repeating indefinitely

This thursday at 8 pm EST, Jayne and Bram Pomplas will be doing a live online concert of traditional Irish music!  You can watch this live web broadcast from anywhere!
Jayne has been playing traditional Irish music for most of her life. At the age of four, she started listening to CD by The Chieftains, Water from the Well. Her Suzuki teacher at the time played some traditional music as well as classical, and started giving her other albums. Jayne first went to the Catskills Irish Arts Week when she was seven, and took a class with the great Tony Demarco, who remains a great influence to her today. At the CIAW, she was introduced to another great fiddle player Brian Conway, by Patrick Mangan. She studied with Brian Conway for six years, and he continues to be influential to her. Other fiddle players she is influenced by are Cathal Hayden, Paddy Cronin, and Andy McGann.
Bram has been dancing since he could walk, and he has been playing the bodhran since he was two years old. The first traditional dancers Bram fell in love with were Jon and Nathan Pilatzke, two brothers who are fabulous Ottawa Valley step dancers. Bram’s Dancing is influenced by the Pilatzke brothers, Nic Gareiss, and Siobhan Butler. Bram’s bodhran playing is mainly influenced by Anna Colliton and John Joe Kelly. Bram has since then picked up the fiddle, and studies with Brian Conway.
