Darrah Carr, Artistic Director of Darrah Carr Dance,describes her style as ModERIN: a playful combination of contemporary Modern dance and traditional Irish step. During this special master class, get an in-depth look at the development of ModERIN and learn how Carr combines Irish dance footwork and spatial patterns with Modern dance arm and torso movements. Participants will have the opportunity to learn a phrase from the Darrah Carr Dance’s repertory will experiment with creating and combining their own dance steps in new and innovative ways.
Open to beginning, intermediate, and advanced dancers. Participation exercises will be adjusted based upon the dancers’ levels of experience.

Darrah Carr is a Visiting Professor in the Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College. She holds an MFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and is currently pursuing a PhD in Dance through Texas Woman’s University. She is the Artistic Director of the Bessie-Award nominated company, Darrah Carr Dance, whose recent performance highlights include: NBC’s “The Today Show,” Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The New Victory Theater, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, MASS MoCA, The Duke Theater on 42nd Street, Celebrate Brooklyn, The Irish Repertory Theater, and the company’s annual New York City Season at the Irish Arts Center
