Sean-Nós NY presents its first workshop of 2015!
Offering classes for both beginner and intermediate dancers, Sean-Nós NY is the new home for sean-nós dancing in the city!
Beginner Sean-Nós Dance
This class is a wonderful opportunity for those who are interested in starting with, or returning to, the basics of sean-nós dancing. This class will give students the tools to begin building their repertoire and developing their sense of musicality. Please wear hard soled shoes and bring water, and a notebook or recording device.
Intermediate Sean-Nós Dance
This class is designed for those who have experience in sean-nós dance or other percussive dance styles. Taught at a somewhat faster pace, students expand their knowledge of sean-nós dancing by learning a more diverse repertoire including dancing from Connemara, Clare, Leitrim, and Mayo among others. Additionally, emphasis is placed on musicality and how one’s dancing relates to the music, always encouraging personalized approaches to the dancing. Please wear hard soled shoes and bring water, and a notebook or recording device.
