The Chieftains, the world’s best-known Irish band, return to New York with their exhilarating renditions of Irish music. Their repertoire includes a tribute to Nelson Mandela, favorites not played live in over a decade, plus dance. The lineup features Paddy Moloney (uilleann pipes, tin whistle), Kevin Conneff (bodhran, vocals) and Matt Molloy (flute) with Jon Pilatzke (fiddle, dance), Triona Marshall (harp, keys), Alyth McCormack (vocals, percussion), Cara Butler (dance), and Nathan Pilatzke (dance), plus two new additions to the touring ensemble: All-Ireland Champion Tara Breen (fiddle, saxophone), and Tim Edey (guitar, mandolin), 2012 BBC Radio 2 Musician of the Year.
