The O’Briens is a romcom revolving around an Irish father, Pat (Tommy O’Neill) who, two years after the death of his wife, has summoned his daughter, Una (Slaine Kelly), who lives in Dublin, and two sons, Fionn (Liam McMahon) and Gareth (Emmett Hughes), living in New York and London respectively, back to their homestead in Galway. The tensions are high as each family member’s secrets are revealed, and they are put to the test as a family as their lives are thrown in to upheaval.
The O’Briens is a feel-good comedy, which brings a fresh outlook to the modern Irish family and can be compared to The Family Stone or ABC’s Modern Family, facing personal issue with comedic, light and realistic undertones, in an inherently Irish manner. The eclectic family are supplemented by the colourful characters of their hometown, sure to bring the chuckles to everyone. Audiences that enjoy the idyllic countryside, a homespun comedy, and charming romantic entanglements will love The O’Briens.
It is a Tugg event, which brings films that otherwise might not get the opportunity the chance to screen where people want to see it. The film must have a certain amount of presales or can’t go ahead, so book now! We were lucky enough to screen in Newport Beach, California to a great reaction and are keen to share it with the Irish on the East coast!
